One of the rarest and most theologically profound subjects in Hindu iconography - Varaha, the boar-headed third avatar of Lord Vishnu, depicted here in his triumphant anthropomorphic form.

This is Vishnu at his most primal and cosmic - the moment he plunged into the primordial ocean as a great boar to rescue the Earth goddess Bhudevi from the demon Hiranyaksha, lifting her on his tusks from the depths of chaos back into the light of creation. It is an act of absolute divine will - protection, strength, and cosmic order restored.

The bronze captures him mid-stride, four-armed, dynamic and powerful — one hand holding what appears to be Bhudevi or a divine attribute, his powerful boar head turned with an expression of focused divine intent. His dark, near-black surface is alive with gilt detailing across his dhoti, belt, and armlets, with traces of polychrome that speak to the tradition of ritually decorated temple bronzes. The stepped pedestal grounds him with the gravity of a temple murti.

Varaha iconography is exceptionally rare in the collector's market - far less commonly produced than Ganesha, Krishna, or even Hanuman. To find him rendered with this quality of surface treatment, dynamism, and scale makes this an outstanding acquisition for any serious collector of Indian sacred bronzes.

A piece of genuine iconographic significance - and one that will not be easily found again.
