Lion Palanquin

A pair of historical, silver-gilt lion head finials or mounts. Each piece depicts a fierce lion's head crafted in a mix of silver (for the face) and gold-gilt (for the mane and collar). They feature prominent, wide-set amber-colored glass or stone eyes and a highly stylized, stylized gold tongue protruding from an open mouth. The base of the heads is encircled by a detailed, beaded or cable-patterned collar. Both lion heads are mounted vertically on simple, solid black cuboid display pedestals against a plain peach or beige background.
